No it sucks more in the sticks..... Writing is an option, spelling never counts, and math you only do on a machine.... Our kid got graduated not knowing what a fraction is, no idea how to do division, multiplication is some fog operation they need a calculator for, what is "signing your name...?" "What's an address...?" is common question now, asked as if its a completely foreign object never known before....
No joke, I drove a school bus for a few years, and high school kids have no idea how to get home... Can't recite their address to help figure out where they need to go....
And of course telling time on the old analog clock, or any reference to "1/4 past" etc, referencing the use of fractions of an hour, or fractions of a glass, cup, or anything fractions.... Here on LI they seem to have quite the system set up for cheating to get into Harvard, or Yale, including but not limited to they always have someone other than their regular teachers administering SAT's.... Seems like a dream come true for substituting someone who can pass the test, for the rich kid that will never get in based on what they have not learned in school...... It's all a joke.... A really bad joke...
