My new GE -TV

OK, so I resigned myself that I'll have to wait for a trip back east to score a Dumont. So, I took DaveA's advise and picked up this 17" GE 17T15 for $30. Bakelite cab and it's a beast for not being very big. It also has an original, optional wood base with Grill cloth front No speaker in there but there's enough room for a 8" or so! The set actually works pretty well, but has some linerarity issues, sharpness and reception is not great, and a small shadow at 1 corner, which looks like trap magnet adjustment.

Since Capacitor world screwed up my order for the Predicta electros, (still waiting)I decided to start re-capping the GE. What a clean chassis! The zinc plating is so shiny, it looks almost like chrome in a few spots!
Something I had not seen before, is the use of terminal boards instead of the usual strips.......very cool to replace parts as you don't have to un-wrap the leads to remove an old part.....just heat up the post on the top side and pull the lead out! I guess this was a precursor to PC boards, and it sure makes for a tidier chassis!

Oh, yeah, that's my new Standard SCM550HP Agile modulator....this thing works great...I had it up and running in my detached garage, and was getting a decent signal in the house. $40 on the bay.....
