I don't know... but VHS could come back as a special effect like the old film effect with dirt and scratches... might want to re-contact those schools and tell them about this new retro art form.
I've seen a new Progressive Insurance Flo ad recently that is obviously to the knowing eye made to look like an old VHS tape, complete with fuzzy resolution, slight smear, a wandering switching point at the bottom of the picture with a bit of skew, and warble in the audio!
