Wiggling a tube is only a temporary cure for a situation where a tube has dirty/corroded pins, or its socket has dirty/corroded connectors, or both. Have you every tried cleaning them? See http://antiqueradio.org/FirstStepsInRestoration.htm . If wiggling a connector makes things better and worse, that connection needs to be cleaned or resoldered, whichever is appropriate.
