Ive been working on a philco 38-12. When I first got it I knew right away this was going to be more than just a recapping job. There is audio output as in the output and amplifier stage are working. But the IF wont oscillate. I checked the oscillator coil and one side read open. And I ended up replacing it with a P-70-OSC which is a miller coil. I am having trouble wiring it up. There is somewhat of an improvement now. There is a buzz like the buzz you hear when you are tuning between stations, it gets louder on the upper end of the band. I went and did some voltage checks, all checked out fine except the screen grid on the 78 IF tube and the screen on the 6A7 oscillator/Det. Voltage checks 64 when it should be 90 on both grids which further supports my theory that the oscillator is not running. Any ideas?
