Problem solved. So I discovered why the SL2000 wasn't putting out any color. Channel 3 fine tuning was way off on the Sony KV-1920 TV set and even though the AFT was set on it was too off of frequency to bring it in. I discovered this today. My Sony KV-1920 is our bedroom tv and recently I bought a DTV converter so we could watch tv on it. The DTV converter I had for channel 4 and the Betamax for channel 3. I finally got the recorder figured out so I could record off the air from the converter with RCA jacks feeding the video and audio inputs of the VCR and bypassing its tuner. I discovered today that the VCR had color on channel 2. So that's how I figured out it had to be the TV set channel 3 was way off its centered frequency. Brought everything back and now my Beta tapes are showing color again. I'm glad it was easy. Sony SL2000 with its TT2000 are very feature rich for their day. I'm glad I can still time shift a program. I'm old school technology and I don't do DVR or Tevo kind of stuff.
