I like the zoom setting as the things on the sides of the screen arent that important anyway. It makes faces just as big as they are with a large LCD tv. Some old shows will still fit your screen well too. Good luck

Not sure about zoom, but I've yet to see anything too interesting going on on the far sides of a wide screen program.
Same with a movie theater screen, it was always more of a visual ambience effect than anything of importance.
