I don't know the provenance of the NTEs, but back when these were new, any attempt to use SK, ECG (now NTE), HEP (Motorola), etc. would cause immediate failure on power up.

The only option then was to use Sony parts and nothing else.

If these NTEs are simply rebagged Sony parts, they'll be fine, but if they're not, I would be reluctant to try them.
