It all depends on what, and where the 680 number you are refering to is located. Are you dealing with a ceramic / mica cap or a wax paper film cap, or schematic listings?

If it says 680 on the schematic for an old 50's 60's era TV or an old stock capacitor then it's 680 mmf which is the same as picofarad.

If it's a new recently made ceramic cap and it says 680 then it's 68pf and 680pf is part #681


It seems that Nanofarad is something that it used more recently and as far as I'm concerned we could all do without. And to make matters worse I bought a new multimeter and it uses megafarad and displays it as (MF)
