1969 Zenith model Z8550-09 (6' long mega console) restoration
I acquired a Zenith space command 600 and have started restoring it. I bought it on marketplace and had no idea it was so heavy. I always wanted to restore one of these TV/FM/AM consoles. I dug into it yesterday and replaced enough main filter caps to get a raster. I really need a schematic to go any further because this unit is so complex. It's a hybrid with two chassis, three if you count the remote control chassis. This TV looks semi low hour, all original tubes except for two, the damper and the horiz output. The flyback has been changed at some point with a "FLY 323" that looks brand new. Someone tried to use electrical tape to tape the anode lead onto the CRT?! I replaced the lead with a modern one and that works great now.
The CRT comes up fast and looks bright. There's no color and the raster stops about 1 inch from the top of the screen with a signal, but extends the full screen with no input. Also the convergence is way out of wack but the purity is good. Maybe something is bad on the convergence board. I will post some pictures later today. This thing is huge with stereo 12" 3 way speakers with horns.
Any schematics and info will be appreciated. I can't get anything out of sam's website.
It's a 14Z8C50 TV chassis, 25ZT120 radio chassis. Model number on the back is a Z8550-09 but it's hard to read.
