Thanks Nolan, I'll be sure to tell him. And he probably won't go for it, but I might try to talk him into joining the site here just for the sake of talking with others about good ole' tube radios.

Sandy, I think that's pretty much what my father does with the bakelite. I don't know what brand of polish/wax he uses, but I'm pretty sure it's automotive wax. And I think he also uses some kind of mild wood soap for the wood radios.

BTW guys, did you all click on The Back Room link on his page?

If you look in the first pic, the Philco consol right in the middle of that lineup is his mother's old radio. It sat in her garage for ages. My father always kept an eye on it for the longest time, and then a few years ago, he asked if he could have it, and she just gave it to him, no questions asked.

I remember seeing that radio even when I was a little goober, but I never saw it on. It will be neat to see it running again when he finally gets to work on it and restore it.
