Canadian GE? Free to good home

Someone from Canada sent me this picture of a really cool 57? General Electric.

I've never seen this model before so I'm guessing it's a Canada only set?

It looks like a hybrid of sorts: it is a lowboy similar to the one I once had, but apparently uses a lower-end chassis. I swiped a couple images from tvhistory.tv for reference:

The set on the left has 20 tubes on its chassis, the one on the right only 15. The brochure at tvhistory.tv doesn't show a model like it.

Cool looking set!

Funny thing about the style though... it looks upside down no matter how you look at it LOL

I have one similar to it , alot of these sets had kind of a cheap chassis seleniums , series wired , on a hot chassis with plastic insulators .
Real mass produced design , but they are really cool sets none the less .
Mine is the model or 2 below this one , it has a sheet metal cabinet with photoprint wood grain , and the chassis on the bottom .
I done a recap on it and still have no decent results , real bad horizontal oscillator problems , among other things rf , if , and the list goes on ....
It had been in a unheated garage for about 30 years so this has probably taken it's toll on things over time
It was working for a while , and it did have a really decent picture .

Eric , I think your right on the year , but it could also be a 1956 .

Anyone near Alberta want this set? It's free to a good home.
