KTLA 2008 Rose Parade...
Anyone watch the parade on KTLA? I noticed that the remote camera feed pictures were pixelating/breaking up and the focus in general was poor at times.

Strange you should mention that. I noticed that the color and brightness on KTLA in HD were a bit lackluster. I guess it depends on the person controlling the final feed "look" at central control... Maybe he was wearing sunglasses.

I didn't realy watch it, but I did have it on in the background. I would never watch any of it anywhere other than KTLA just for traditional reasons. I didn't happen to notice the pixelating, but had I, I would have blamed it on our DirecTV. The video that I posted here of the parade on my '52 Kaye-Halbert B&W set was from the air, but obviously I couldn't have seen the difference in any broadcasting detail.
I'll ask a friend at KTLA who may have worked on the parade broadcast, and see if he has any input. Charles

There were a few of the hand held cameras that looked like they were having problems. I bet they were using some type of microwave to get the signal from them back to the truck. It was digital breakup.

Some of the cameras did look way better than the others. Did anyone notice the kucinich banners and the impeach cheney signs that came and went? Amazing they got on the air at all before being arrested.
Since they got rid of stephanie edwards, the show is no good any more. Bob was funny with her thanks to the chemistry but now it's just routine. IMHO. |
