Talking

Ernie was great! Too bad he didn't survive long enough to do his show in color. His is one of the few B/W shows I watch on my CTC-4.

I think it might have been mentioned here before, but there is ONE Kovacs show that survives in color in the UCLA archives. On a 16mm collectors' site, a couple of people posted that a digibeta copy (of the lenticular 16mm kinescope) was shown two years ago at Cinecon.

There's a new box set of previously unreleased Kovacs material in the works. We can only hope this is included.

Ernie Kovacs was a genius, and how sad he died so young. I think that we have all been cheated out of seeing many things he would have done had he lived a long life. His surviving material shows his brilliant genius of visual comedy. Thank goodness not all of his material was lost or destroyed over the years.
