It's interesting what happens when people dash off postings on Craigslist, or eBay for that matter. I believe the seller of this set may have meant 1959. Numbers 5 and 6 are right next to each other on a computer keyboard, so it's easy to type the wrong number if you're in a hurry, or aren't paying close attention to what you are typing. If this TV were truly a 1969 model it would have the modern RCA logo and a completely different control panel, plus it would have a factory-installed UHF tuner and very likely would be solid-state. Not to mention that it wouldn't be nearly as large as this one. The old "RCA Victor" script logotype would be missing as well; RCA stopped using it, I think, in 1968, when they changed to their present stylized logo.

At least they erred to a newer date than an earlier one... Don't we all hate it when we see ads for "1927 Philco Predicta"? Or "Great antique collectible color TV with small screen", and it's a 1993 Gold Star 13" portable?

Nice set. I always see sellers making the sets OLDER than what they are, so this is kind of a first for me.
The best is when there's an ad with no picture which reads "antique color tv, works great" and its an '86 Daewoo.

Somebody locally has a Philco 37-640 advertized as a "Circa 1800 Philco"
 . It does appear in very nice shape though, and if they aren't asking a fortune I may have to find a place of it around the house.

Circa 1800, huh? I don't expect most people to be able to accurately guess the age of these sets, but come on...
 These people must have been asleep in history class!

Well, to give them a little slack, it is a radio (circa 1936) and I guess some people figure radio has been around forever
. I'm not sure however whether correcting the seller in this instance would be condusive to my getting a better deal or not (or any deal at all). I guess I'll wait and see what they end up asking (no price on the ad). If they're thinking this thing might be going to make them rich, perhaps they'll be due for a nice humbling lecture on vintage radio.I bought a Sony STR-V6 not too long ago and they guy was claiming in his ad that the thing was 670 watts. I knew he was reading the power consumption from the sticker on the back, but didn't have the heart to correct him. He was only asking 40 bucks for it anyway so I told him it would blow my speakers away (and I wasn't lying because its actual 120 wpc will indeed do so if I'm not careful).
