Sydney's channel 7 50 years old Nov 1

I've been streaming an Australian radio station 4KQ (Internet DXing ) and had half an ear open during their news, and I think that they said that that the TV station in Sydney on channel 7 went on the air 50 years ago. I suppose Sydney is the home of Australian TV networks, like New York City is for American TV networks. Otherwise why would Brisbane care about a Sydney TV station.

BTQ-7 was Brisbane's second commercial channel to go to air which turns 50 years old today.

Television started in Sydney on Sept 16 1956 when TCN-9 went on air.
