Philco sold radios in Australia in bakelite style cabinets
While poking around the 'net, found this at http://cgi.ebay.com.au/RED-BAKELITE-...item3ca87ce8f7
(no affiliation) Which looks like an American Philco radio from the 1940's. Maybe the molds were sold/shipped to Australia? I see miniature tubes in it, and the auction says it was a 1956 model. I see Australian style radio station callsigns on the dial; seems that was common on radios made/sold in Australia.

Very neat! I have several of the American versions of this, but had no idea of the Aussie version. Would be nice to have one to sit on the shelf with the others.

Interesting
I'm finishing off a pair of 40s Philco bakelite sets right now. This sure does look like them. |
