maggie roundie

hey all just alittle digging, i have the maggie roundie combo , huge but anyway further back i think i had asked about this set and the video output section. this set had a replaced crt and emissions are fine but i cant seem to get the picture brighter then it should and i know something is wrong. the video output tube was infact bad and i replaced it but made no difference. also resistors around that tube i checked and are fine. so now i dont know where to look at this point on what may be preventing the brightness from being brighter then it should. my 63 silvertone has the original crt and is brighter then the maggie. so at this point maybe a resistor went high in value i dont know but maybe someone here can give me a hint on where to look. the set works great and the colors are fine and i can leave it the way it is but i just think something is not what it should be.

no that agc dont make a difference at all. i wish it were that easy because its a job to get the chassis out for any problem with the tuner and stereo all wired together.

Have you possibly subbed the first and second video tubes? Did your Maggie use a 6AW8?

I don't have the maggie schematic diagram and don't know how it works. If you want post the schematic, I could see well about the components and the possibilities of this trouble.

If you post the Maggie's model and chassis number' s; I might have the schematic, if you need it. Pictures would be nice someday when you have time!

My Magnavox had a bad horizontal blanker tube making the picture dark. Mine is a good deal later but it is worth the try.

A gassy 6AW8 can make the video look especially weak and dull. I've seen many of them test good on the checker, and then perform poorly in the circuit... more in RCA chassis, personally... I dont have an example of a Maggie set right now, but am actively looking for one.

there a ceramic resister near the service switch that can give you lack of brightness.looks like a bad crt.seen this quite a bit on those old magnavox chassis

Check the boost rectifier. Should be about 300 volts more than boost on the cathode end.

well i dont think the crt is bad it tests very good and its from 1982. picture is clear colors perfect just not bright the way it should be and the contrast seems to be affected by the lack of brightness.
