1) Computer addiction is not the badest of all. At least, when you get out of the house, you don't navigate on the internet;
2) Laptop addiction, is bader, but when you get outside and isn't a long ride, even if you sit down (even in a car) is not necesarly to use the laptop; 3) Smart mobile phone addiction is the worse. You can't take a rest even in the restroom. |

, but now women, children, every "class" and age of people uses it. So much that some cellphone/smartphone vicious usage are being now classified, according with psichiatrists as a form of addiction and will have it's own code for it (I belive it have already), like in the past have one for the "normal" gamers addicts, and in the more past for another addictions...The various impacts are huge and worldwide. It seems to elevated at higher grade when the pandemic appeared.

Internet addiction is one reason for which I don't have a smartphone.
Yes, they can sometimes be good, but... Oh, I hate small size touch screens. |

Count me in on hating touch screens (as I type this message on one on a tablet). As for Smartphones I hate packing a bulky tracking device everywhere and went back to my old Nokia 1600B candy bar phone. As long as I can still get GSM I'll keep using it.

It’s funny how this thread started with computer addiction and quickly shifted into smartphones, and no surprise, really. The phone isn’t just a phone anymore, it’s a pocket-sized slot machine for attention. Social media especially has taken things to a whole new level. What used to be "just checking in" has turned into hours lost, dopamine spikes, and in some cases, real mental health fallout.
There’s even a social media harm lawsuit now, where families are going after the big platforms for the psychological damage their algorithms are causing, especially in teens. Not saying we should all toss our devices in the bin, but it does make you think twice about what these platforms are doing to people long-term. Last edited by Oldperson1; 06-09-2025 at 05:21 PM. |

Tv was used to brainwash people. No social media, "influencers" and other "content creators" took it to another level. They couldn't done that without the smartphone.
Well, smartphone can be helpful in some cases, but mostly, they are just annoying. In Bucharest there is a bilboard campaing to watch where you walk, not the screen. A guy watches the screen and in the rear is a tram (streetcar, trolleycar) coming... wathcing the screen and you will not see it coming. Oh, and they where accidents because people watched the screen or doing live while driving. The food delevery persons do sometimes pay more atention to the screen of the phone then to the driving - cyclists do ride on the sidewalk too... For other, handsfree dosen't seem to exist. Well, P.C. adiction is bad, but like I sayed before, it isn't as bad as the smartphone one. It's good that I don't have smartphone adicition. The interface of this forum looks frendly.

I’m not a big fan of touch screens either, honestly. For some reason, I always end up with fingerprints everywhere and making way more typos than on a regular keyboard. My phone mostly just stays on silent in my backpack, and I barely use it unless I really need GPS or have to check something quickly on the go. I totally get why people switch back to older phone models like the Nokia, I actually had a simple flip phone for ages before finally caving to peer pressure and getting a smartphone.
Most of my screen time actually goes to gaming instead of endless scrolling. Whenever I play CS, I get way more excited about collecting rare weapon skins than what my phone is doing. I’ve actually been spending time going through a guide to the most popular skins in csgo, mainly because it’s pretty fun picking out which designs I want for my own loadout.
