Teletone TV-31 14"
While I'm waiting for parts for my Motorola Bakelite set, I decided to throw this set up in the bench. I've been holding off on restoring it because it's missing it's speaker, but i finally feel like restoring it too. It uses an oddbal 14BP4 CRT. It's a 1950 set with an early small rectangular CRT. The CRT tests a little weak, but I think it's very usable. Can't wait to get started on it and hopefully find s speaker for it.

Here is s chassis view. It's also missing part of the flyback cover, so I may have to make one.

Even though it's rectangular screen-set it has a nice early look to it with that big mask with it's brass bezel. Nowadays it's my experience that with a little patience just about any part can be located. Good luck with it!

Awesome set! If you don't mind me asking how much did you get it for?

I didn't pay much for it, maybe $15-20. I went to a craigslist ad that said they had old tvs for sale. It was an old tv repairman who recently passed away and his grandson was clearing out his house. I ended up buying 15-20 sets from him that weekend. He was very reasonable with his prices. I even retired a set he wanted to keep to remember his grandpa by. Below is some of the sets I got.

That's a very reasonable price. And that's a handsome collection I'd say!

I can't seem the get the CRT to completely light up. No matter how much I play with the ion trap or focus cool, it still on lights up the top half. Any thoughts?

An raster like that is usually caused by the yoke not being pushed all the way up against the CRT.

Check the resistance on the vertical output transformer and yoke.
