New member here
I created my account a week or two ago, but haven't had time for posting yet. I am new to collecting CRTs. I found this remote lying around in my basement, and I would like help identifying which TV it went with (all I know is that the TV was a 1980s Zenith). Any help is appreciated.

Welcome.
This looks like a VCR remote, are you sure it's for a Zenith TV?

I looked at it again, and noticed it has a sliding switch on it that says "TV" on the right and "VCR" on the left.

All my VCR remotes have that switch. It's so you can control the TV with the same remote you use with the VCR.
Remotes that ship with the TV only have TV functions. If it has buttons for transport control then it's a VCR remote which came with your Zenith VCR.

Is that a DTV converter box? Mine already has remote control. But I'm not sure what's going on in the picture.
If you need IR LEDs/sensors you can get them on Digi-Key or Adafruit (if you're in NY)...

That is indeed a DTV box. The TV I found for free at my local waste dump. It's a Zenith A1926W from 1984. I'll post more about it in the Solid State CRT TVs section.

Your remote is from when Zenith sold JVC built VCR's. It will
run almost any Zenith TV IR remote. Uses a J type battery. Millions are out there as a Zenith VCR comes with one also. The A1926W is non remote. Zenith remote model would start with "S". IIRC the comparable remote to yours is SA1927W. You cant add remote, it takes a LOT more than an IR detector. Zeno ![]() LFOD ! |
