Setchell carlson monitor
I picked this up on Saturday. Thought it was weird because there was no place to switch channels. I looked at the back and discovered it was a monitor. It has the unitized chassis like the other Setchell Carlson stuff. There was an optional VHF/UHF tuner. Mine does not have that extra stuff. There was also a space for an extra video input.
Is there a way to change one of the video inputs to run a VCR? Would I just have to modify the cable? Too bad it was B/W instead of color! polaraman |

Looks like there's two RCA jacks on the back of the unit. Maybe those are A/V inputs?
If not, I'm sure you could modify a connector or perhaps make your own A/V jacks for it. Awesome find, that's neat lookin, perhaps one they used in a TV studio?

Good looking unit. It is not too easy to see but those look like "UHF" threaded coaxial connectors for the video and possibly RCA for the audio. You should be able to run video and audio from a VCR to it without any problems, assuming the monitor works. If you want a couple of UHF mating connectors, send me your address.

The RCA connectors are for audio. The larger connectors are for the video. I will have to go pull the SAMS later. I may use my variac to power it up.
This unit sat in a antique/drug store. It was not for sale. The owner decided to get out of the business and sold out to my antique dealer friend. He was none too happy to call me up and make a couple bucks. He knows that I will buy it if he finds them. I am an easy target! He knows vacuum tubes are money in the bank.Tim I will PM you on the connectors. Jpdylon, I do not know where it was used. I was thinking maybe a class room. polaraman Last edited by polaraman; 11-14-2005 at 08:37 PM. |

Most of the 70's and earlier video stuff used these type of connectors...my RCA Lyceum TV monitor/receivers use them. They are the same type of connector you use on a CB radio for the antenna. The video input will work fine with VCR.
When I was in High school there was an RCA CTC-68 Lyceum TV in the library with noisy tuner and they wouldn't let me open it up to spray the tuner so I set it up with the UHF-to-RCA connectors on the video input so it could work with a VCR. |
