Resoldering tube pins

I've got my old 1928 Atwater Kent radio working. But ...
I've got two 227 and two 171 tubes for it. Both work correctly ....
if the wires are touching the pins.

This thread is currently next to the pin crimper thread. I don't
want to crimp these old tubes. I can't find an old thread on this,
though it must be here.

I successfully resoldered the wires on an 80 that had this problem ...
but its base was loose and I was able to extent the wires and reattach.
These bases are either still firmly attached or only partly loose.

I tried resoldering them with a complete failure rate. It
looks like are pins are chrome plated. The solder won't stick.
I don't think that filing off the chrome would help, as the wires
don't stick out.

I've thought of several methods, but don't want to try them
until I've heard of the "standard" ones.

What do people do in this case.
