I've had this deck for a little while now but haven't been used much. Does anyone have or know much about this deck? I know it was somewhat a 'prosumer' deck since it had the TC capability and the RS-232C connection (kinda like a poor man's pro deck), but other than that its an average SVHS unit. It doesn't do well with EP recorded tapes tracking wise but seems to do fine with SP based tapes.

Been debating whether to try to sell it, or hold on to it. Any thoughts?

Even though it has a 9-pin serial port (apparently), it's listed as RS-232, with proprietary protocol. Pro decks have 9-pin RS-422 interfaces (which could be run thru a converter) but the control protocol is not the 'industry-standard' Sony protocol. So, finding an edit controller to maximize it may be problematic.

However, if someone already has a system set up for these, finding a working one would be good for them. Maybe try the waters on ebay?

The world is now full of analog standard-definition video equipment being put out to pasture.
