Predicta Holiday CRT removal

Found a good CRT for my predicta. I want to be careful with the shell and screen in replacing the CRT. Any tips or suggestions before I begin dissassembly would be welcome.

I haven't tried it myself, but I did find these instructions in a Beitman's service manual (click for larger versions).

Good luck!

Taking it out is easy, putting it back OTOH...

I had a heck of a time getting the gold band back around the screen, if you out it in and try to connct the retaining spring it doesn't have enough give to make it.

I wound up connecting the spring first then stretching the band around the lugs on the housing till it was in place, I was afraid it would break or damage something but it's actually pretty strong.

Maybe I did it wrong, if anyone knows better I'd love to hear it.

Thanks so much!! And Eric, I started to remove the CRT but when I got to that band I thought it would be difficult to reinstall. So now that I know that part is hard I will allow patience for it. Thanks again guys. Remnants of Isaac will keep me indoors today so I will get it done.

That's exactly what my experience was as well. I had to attach the spring first and then stretch the band around the tube housing. It was pretty simple to do, although I was really sweating thinking that the band might break before I stretched it far enough. But that wasn't the case and since then I've removed it and restreched it back on several times without any problems. Bob

I have the CRT swapped and have the video generator on trying to get video dialed in. Need to find my Sams on it. Oh and got careless with my hand around back while I was in front. My hand is all numb and I did a fast dance. If I had it all on video I would gladly post for future laughs. I am so dumb sometimes. Going to put the shell and safety screen on for now and get back to it later. My 92 year old Uncle wants to go have a couple cocktails!!!

This is where I am at. I have a square for a picture. And it is not the video mode of the converter.

I had a head injury 29 months ago and am just getting back into this stuff. Of course I discover stuff everyday but I have no idea where my SAMs is at I know I have a sams for all my sets. That is about all I know. It's weird working on this stuff again. It's like I know what I am doing but I don't know why or how. It's a struggle I will overcome. And the plastic band around the shell is easy if you hook it to the springs and carefully slip it on around.
