Very likely a 1948 Sentinel 400TV portable. A VERY common vintage TV.

Sentinel made an Airline version for Monty Wards that is very, very similar. They apparently worked good in the bathroom, as per my avitar.

Yikes, asking for electrical trouble with that TV in the bathroom!

Just nicknames, just people trying to be funny. It's the same as people today calling Walmart "Wally World," or pronouncing Target like it was French. I remember a lot of people just called them Wards.

Here is the photo full sized. The extension cords on the floor make things convenient. You don't want to have to get out of the tub to plug something in. You might miss Uncle Miltie!

In graduate school, my TV was a "Seventeener" type portable. At the end of a long day, I often relaxed while taking a bath and watching shows like "The Rockford Files." The TV sat on a long board propped across the tub. Not a very safe arrangement, but I lived to tell the tale.

Geez Phil, you could have ruined that set if it fell in the tub!

Instead of saying "Target", some around the D.C. area call it the capital city of a well-known country in the middle east, which has the same first letter and the same number of letters!
