Hi
I am a Sansui nut, but the little woman went to a yard sale the other day and found a Philco 37-650, {from the description and a bit of basic research}. The radio seems to be all there minus the plug, another cord has been black taped on the end of the original cloth covered cord, when carefully plugged in without any antenna other than the rusty coat hanger inside the thing it hums softly.. An ebay seller will pay us $80 for it..it is a good candidate for restoration as like I said it seems to be all there... I know nothing about this stuff, any thoughts as to worth? Casey

I'd estimate that guy was made in 1936-37,sounds like an excellent candidate for restoration, probly all the capacitors need replacing, & quite a few of the resistors as well. I'd get it restored, keep it & enjoy it !! After all, it's nigh on to 70 years old !!-Sandy G.

Yep, with Philcos made between 1937 and 1952 or so, the first two digits before the dash are the model year, so that's a 1937.
Let's see a pic!

philco prize
Nosirrah: I have some familiarity with your Philco (actually made in 1936 according to Rider). I would love to restore this one; it's a premium set as it is three-band and has push-pull output, along with other bells and whistles. Seems that in restored condition it could be worth far more than $80. Have fun with it.

I have the 4 page Philco service bulletin for this set - it's on my website - but down right now due to a smoked server. Email for a copy - tbavis(at)rochester(dot)rr(dot)com

I really don`t have the time for this nice old radio.I have wayyy too many sansui projects on the bench to give this the attention it needs, I decided to sell it to a restoration guy for $80.
Thx for all the input... Casey
