Ever Hear Of a Cielo?

Me neither. My latest roadside find about 40 inches or so. No logo on the front panel. Built in 2013. CCFL backlighting. Screen seems to be OK. Will not turn on. Caps look good.

Rebadged Samsung...

Quickie web search comes up as a rebadged Samsung sold at Wal-Mart around 6 or 7 years ago.

Try running the FCC Id number...

Most definitely not a Samsung. Might have a Samsung display and ballast, but the display looks more like an AUO if I had to bet money.

A model number would be handy. If the standby light is on but it doesn't respond to the power button, it probably has bricked firmware.

Take a close up of the main - I may have firmware for that basic main under a different brand name. If so, I can load an eeprom for another brand like Element or Seiki. The TV would work but would have the menus and remote codes for a different brand.

Cielo TC40S2F is the model. Yeah, I saw AUO stamped on some of the chassis. Definitely a PS problem. No +5 standby. It uses an RS200-4H01 PS board. These were common in RCA's too.

There's usually an 8 pin through the hole IC which is the 5V standby controller (U101?). These are pretty reliable but make sure you have at least 160V across the big cap on top of the board. If the 160V is there when plugged in, the controller IC could be bad, but check for a shorted diode around the chip. A shorted diode here won't blow the fuse but will keep the controller IC from working.

There's a fair chance I have this board. I'll check Monday when I get to work.

Thanks. I'll try to fix it first.

If you get 160V on the bridge cap on plug in, look for the Vcc on the U101 8 pin controller. You can find the datasheet on-line that will give you the terminal layout and usually a representative circuit design using the IC.

A lot of times they use a handful of very high value smd resistors in series between the 160V bridge and the Vcc pin to divide the voltage down. They are usually 470K to 1M in value and are known to fail.

Got the 160V. Downloaded the pdf's for all three chips. Looks like it needs a new Q105 due to unknown mechanical damage.
There are 2 strings of three resistors in series. All checked good. Very likely U101 (A6069H). Thanks.
