6AQ5 Substitute
Hey guys I recently bought a lot of vacuum tubes off eBay and unfortunately the seller made a mistake and sent me 6AQ6s in the lot instead of 6AQ5. He says he doesn't have any 6AQ5s in stock but he wants to make things right is there a good known substitute for 6AQ5 that I could ask him for? These are for the audio output, video output and vertical sweep output on my TV

Other close or equivalent tube types are: 6HG5, 6HR5, 6669, 6BM5, N727, CV1862 and the Tesla 6L31. The 6CM6,[6] like the Russian 6P1P (6П1П),[7] while electrically equivalent (up to 250 V anode voltage), have a 9 pin (B9A) base. Another similar, but not identical, amplifier pentode with a miniature 9-Pin base (B9A), used in consumer electronics was the 6M5. |

IMOH, if he did not ship you what you wanted, you should be given a refund if the right part is not available, and free return offered.
And get the right parts elsewhere, don't risk subbing, it's more trouble than it's worth.

Thanks guys. He didn't have any of the subs, so he just gave me a refund and told me to keep the tubes. He seems like a nice person who just made a mistake, I offered to ship the incorrect ones back in exchange for some other tubes I could use this way he wouldn't get hurt in the transaction but he apparently didn't have them. He told me he has pallets worth he bought in bulk and didn't actually know what he has.
