Need help locating a remote control
HI EVERYONE.
I have just got myself a JVC HR-P51A multi system VCR. It did not come with remote and so does anyone know if any of the JVC range of remotes will work this unit please? The one that should come with the player is very basic. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance. |

An invaluable tool for this scenario IMHO is an AR Xsight Color remote control. Unfortunately they are long discontinued but they still pop up every now and then. The reason I suggest this is there is a community of people who support them and you can program them to run pretty much anything for which the codes are documented - without having the original remote. you can also learn from an original remote and then share the resulting codes with the community. I first got one because I found a Luxman TP-117 in a thrift store, but have tried to go through all my gear and document the codes. Some companies like Oppo actually publish code lists, Denon does as well although their tech support people are surly, but lots just don't, although for some manufacturers there's a large knowledge base.
To answer the question you actually asked, likely yes, the codes will be shared with similar age/brand/type machines. E.g. when I found a Sony double cassette deck that was remote capable but without the remote, I took the time to try to get it to work, and sure enough there was a code set that got me started. Sony is especially well documented because they're so popular. there was a bit of a learning curve for me to get started, but once I got everything up and running I've been good to go http://www.hifi-remote.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page these are the remotes I like http://www.hifi-remote.com/wiki/inde...sight_and_Nevo there's not your exact model listed but there are quite a few JVC VCRs so I'm assuming that would get you started. http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dl...gory&cat_id=25 If you do choose to go down this road and need some help I'd be happy to answer any questions now that I've been doing this for a while. |
