ced player manual?

Hello! New guy here on this forum. So I lucked into a Zenith VP2000 in the original box. It's looks to have been lightly used and in decent condition. I disassembled it and lubed the platter and the advancement mechanism. The platter had a sintered bearing, so I used some oil that I had left over from my Revox A77 and on the advancement gearing I used some super-lube grease. All of the belts are good and the needle is good too. I had some movies I had bought years ago, and it plays rather well to boot. I can't seem to locate a manual for it as I like to have that for any of my old toys just in case. I understand it is the same as an RCA SFT100. Does anybody have any idea where to find a manual? Thanks for any replies!

If you find one I'd like a copy too. I have the same model, changed the platter belt (without using the conductive ones I've heard the early players need) worked great for a couple of minutes then there was a spark near the pickup and no video again. I'd really like to make mine work (to the point I've been considering guting my RCA SFT100).

Do you have a Hifiengine account? I just downloaded the service manual (95 pages with service bulletins!) for the RCA SFT100. Look in the library under RCA and there she is! I did not initially think to look there. I would copy a link to it for you but they are really funny about their content and user agreement, and I really don't want to be kicked off their site.

I think I might. I'll have to do some poking around. Thanks for letting me know.

Turns out I don't have a Hifiengine account (or it got cancelled from inactivity)...What's much worse is when trying to create one the site posts a message to the effect of "Due to abuse the new account system has been turned off indefinitely until a solution can be found"...That royally sucks!

Can't the folks at Hifi Engine just put up a recaptcha to block bots and elevate some of the members to moderator status to kick out any bad humans that join (if hifiengine's existing moderators are too lazy to do it themselves which that message implies)? It can't be that hard to make a place like that work!

I was not able to sign in with a similar message. Then, a few days later, I was able to.

Had the format for a short time, got a new-in-box Toshiba VP550 player for something like $45 the summer of 1985 and several flicks to go with it one of which was Streets Of Fire. Stereo sound was great but our family already had a large library of LD's the Toshiba got traded off a short time later when I "inhereted" the VP1000... that was replaced with a tray loader LD-700. The VP-1000 survives and I still use it to play the stubborn discs.

I also had a Pioneer VP-1000 Laser Disc player in the early 1980s, replaced by an LD-700. I had already sold the VP-1000 by the time I realized how poor the LD-700 was with tracking less-than-ideal discs.

That is very cool that your VP-1000 is still working after forty years!
