Sure, they're a neat looking set, but in that condition? Whew! Also proof that prices in the TV hobby are all over the board. Me? I took a pair of "lesser" 7JP4 sets to a radio meet over the weekend. Good crt's. I truly could not give them away.

eBay is artificial reality....The people who live in places that didn't have TV until the 60s and don't know why they can't find any with an hour of home pay stupid prices because they think it's the last one on earth.

Exactly, and just because it's in someones cart doesn't mean sold. Asking price vs. selling price... it's why so much crap lingers there forever

Estate sale more realistic

Another VKer I was along with paid $100 for one in a wood cabinet, naturally we assumed the 7JP4 is toast. He also scored nice 24" Zenith SC with dead crt and I got a '55 Halolight and 59 21" Motorols Hifi sound consoles, both with dead crt's, owner had been piling up good sets with bad parts

Someone must start rebuilding these electrostatic CRTs, but its also a phosphor restore as much as cathode replacement.

After years of purchasing vintage televisions on eBay and paying top dollar for them, I discovered FB Marketplace...admittedly way late in the game. To be honest, the convivence of buying anything on that platform was the main attraction. After years of comments related to my laments regarding the relative lack of TV available near me, comments saying "You live 10 miles from where RCA produced TVs for decades in Camden NJ. You must be looking in the wrong places." I was...out of laziness. FB marketplace, at any given time, has 8-10 of my favorite era TVs available for $100 just to get it out of the seller's house. EBay prices have gone through the roof on vintage sets. Someone was asking $1,800 for a 17" RCA portable TV unrestored from the 1950s not too long ago. Ridiculous.

Raymond Lowry design with the wood cabinet. That’s the one I have. Bought it fully restored and put a strong 7JP4 in it. Good TV
