Sic Transit Gloria...
Got the new Fair Radio catalog in. Shed a tear, as they no longer list R-390As, R-390s, or R-392s for sale anymore. They still have a mighty thin selection of parts, but that's it. I HAVE noticed on You-Know-Where, R-3XXs have been bringing quite respectable amounts of scratch-one would think they're G-33Ks, SX-1980s or something. And, in a way, they are...Still can't believe I managed to snag that 1955 Collins contract R-390A from them several years ago-that was a REAL coup-like findin' a new-unopened box SX-1980 at a yard sale for 50 bux...

Sandy, I've noticed the same thing. Ordinary (non-Collins) A's that used to go for $400 or so not more than a year or two ago are now commonly $800+, with really nice ones flirting with a grand.
I'm afraid I missed my opportunity to snag a nice one at a reasonable price. I keep hoping for a low BIN, but I don't think it's gonna happen...

.the end of a era has come. i remember them being in there since i started to receive the catolog all the way back to 1996 and drooling over them.back then you could get a fully tested one for (iirc) $325 with non original meters.as for ebay prices i havnt watched them too much but i suppose like the vintage audio gear theyre not immune to the price increases either.i still vow to one day own one (even if i have to visit sandy and sneak out the back door with his when he's not looking ) j/k sandy.
