Space command 400 roundie on Ebay/Calif

I bet drh4683 will be wanting to get this set. He seems to have a bunch of Space Command stuff. Too far for me to snag. The auction will not let you pull pics.

Arrgh, that's 15 minutes away from me!
Oh well, that $500 buy it now suggests to me that the reserve is probably way too high.

Heh, heh, it's a color set so what's he playing on it? "I Love Lucy"

Eric,

You could always send him a message asking him if he would take your offer (whatever that would be) in the event that his reserve is not met. I've had good luck with it, especially after the seller has to pay the re-listing fees over and over.

well I don't either, but that didn't stop me with the PB roundie

If he didn't have a set reserve, i would probably take a stab at it. You're right its probably too high. I may send him a msg and see what he writes back if anything....

Looks like some retrace lines in evidence. Still - pretty amazing that it works at all after 35 years of storage!

I know Zenith had some great looking sets and cabinets... (from their brochures) but didn't anybody ever buy them? Why do I only see Zenith sets in such ugly, bare-bones cabinets, but tons of RCAs, Admirals, Maganvox, etc. often are packaged in beautiful danish-modern cabinets.... Or at least something besides the shipping-crate designs I always see the Zeniths in!

It's kinda like the only "survivor" old cars I see are always some wretched shape of dark green, or beige, yet the catalogs show red, blue, yellow, etc.

I guess with Zenith being a more substantial set than most of the competition, adding a top quality cabinet really was pushing up the price. So the dealers would have sold a lot of lower end stuff? I don't know. I have a 25MC30 console in a painted metal cabinet-I really think they must have made that cabinet ugly on purpose, to try and upsell potential customers!

Very nice. Never seen a zenith color with the space command remote chassis hung on the back of the set like this. Very unusual back cover set up. Its and early UHF set from '64. The way those UHF tuners mounted onto the early zenith sets looked like they were modfied from an existing "VHF" only control panel.
I might go after this one. However, it will cost quite a bit to get it to chicago.
I like the plain cabinets and danish modern cabinets best. Never cared too much for the exotic cabinets. Thats one of the reasons I like table models so much.

Wonder if that "shadow" of the rug is embedded into the top of the cabinet?

New girlfriend : )

I'm still checking in here usually every day, hah hah. Just picked up a set of those Fred Astaire tv specials on dvd instead of my crummy vhs tapes that would never play good on my old roundies with the screen 'tearing' on top. These looks much much better, love watching them on my ctc-5. It's like watching them live. Got them from somebody on ebay.
