Need help with 1963 Zenith Roundie Convergence.
Is there anyone in Michigan who might be willing to help with an alignment and convergence on this Zenith color TV? I just don't have the equipment or know how to do it properly. I really want to get this one tuned up to it's potential. I plan on keeping this set and it will probably be the only Roundie in my collection. I have had luck restoring many B/W sets but no luck at all with 60's color TV's. I've owned a few various Roundies before but all had convergence and alignment issues. Would be nice to have one good working color set. I'd happily drive the set to someone who could set up the convergence or walk me thru the tuning procedures. I've uploaded a youtube video showing the sets current condition http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMjJpf6iGUU. The set usually struggles to lock in color at start up, After running a few minutes the color improves and stays locked. You may remember this set from an earlier thread when It belonged to Mark(Zenithfan1) He really cleaned it up nice and replaced caps, filters, etc.. I've since had to replace the 3AT2 socket due to arcing at the base. Thanks for any help or suggestions. Here are few screen shots:

Perhaps I need to get new glasses... but from here, those look like very impressive screen shots.

Here are a few more screen shots. Having trouble getting fleshtones to look right, Always too much red. Could the broken clover leaf be a source of my convergence troubles?

How does a black and white picture look on it? Turn the color control all the way down and see if your black and white picture looks redish.
I'm guessing your blue and green drive controls need to be turned up a bit.

Thanks! I agree.
B/W looks good and not redish. Here are B/W screens.

Not sure which control is for tint. Here are a few shots when the "Adjust for Fleshtone" knob is turned to it's extremes and then adjusted for best fleshtone. The blue and Green gain controls are both set to 3/4 full turns. Notice the small red/blue/green dots on the zoomed photo? I notice 3 sets of them going vertical down the screen.

Ah Macrovision, I should have known. I'm using a Sima macrovision scrubber for the video, Guess the signal is getting thru slightly. Any thoughts on a decent affordable cross hatch generator? Heathkit?

Looks great seeing all those '60's shows on the right kind of set.

You will not get satisfactory convergence with a broken cloverleaf. Give me a PM as I have a NOS one. Phil
