Watching more and more of these old ads there is one thing I conclude. Just as much BS then, as now.... But interesting that they were so long, and in some cases included such intricate detailed information.... And you know that part with the tv tech was complete BS.

Looks like Betty muffed whatever quick-walk-over-hot-coals type trick she was supposed to do with the cigarette!

I hope those Westies had better horizontal linearity than the monitor that kinescope film was taken from....

Neat video, thanks for posting!

My grandma had a cigarette going all the time and when she was in the kitchen she used to put it on the counter with the end hanging over it while she did something thinking she'd pick it right back up. She forgot a lot and her counters had several burn marks. It's a wonder she didn't burn the house down.

After she puts out the Cig on the set you can totally see the mark it left!

As for PC boards making the set more reliable, well we know how well that worked out don't we.
