BSR UA15 changer tracking force question
I'm working on a BSR UA15 record changer from the mid '60's that has the usual dried grease in it. My question is, how do you adjust the tracking pressure on this unit? From the way it looks, the spring is fixed and can't be adjusted. From what I see, the only way to make it track lighter is to cut off sections of the spring; but, maybe I'm missing something. This unit is fitted with a Euphonics U9 cartridge (will now have to be replaced because the terminals broke off at the cartridge body as I was lowering it to see the cartridge type number) and this thing is tracking at 10 grams; which, is way more than the 2-6 grams that's shown on the VM website. I have no way of knowing if this cartridge is original to this changer or a replacement.

You make it track lighter by pulling the spring away from and then over the retaining clip at the front end of the spring.
You'll have to use a pair of needle-nose pliers to change it.

Is this the changer from the Arvin console?

Yes, I'm parting out the Arvin and using the changer in something else. When I pulled the speakers, I discovered that the bugs had been eating the paper cones.
