Samsung Model UN58TU690TF Issues

Hello everyone, a friend just brought over a Samsung 4K Smart TV that is giving him some troubles and I was going to see if I could fix it for him, The LED Light flashes twice and, and the TV clearly shows signs of it trying to power on but then it just shuts down and then it tries to power on again and then it shuts down again, also the remote is not outputting an IR Signal from what I can see with the camera on my phone and I've tried 4 pairs of known good AAA batteries in the remote, and I wonder if maybe the remote not working might have something to do with the TV not wanting to power on?

Any ideas?

On most Samsung sets you can unplug the cable that runs between the main board and the power board to see if the backlights come on when the AC cord is plugged in. If the backlights come on this usually indicates the power board and the LEDs are okay and you have a mainboard issue or a bad screen. After reconnecting the power cable to the mainboard, disconnect the ribbon cable from the main board to the screen. If the set powers up with the ribbon cable disconnected, the screen is probably the problem. Sometimes if the set powers on with the ribbon cable disconnected, reconnecting the cable while the set is on will allow the picture to come on, sometimes for a moment or two.

Thanks for the info, this will be helpful in the future, if I run across this issue again, unfortunately when me and my friend were trying to figure out how to open the TV up, we ended up accidentally breaking the ribbon cables off of the bottom of the LCD Panel which basically rendered the TV a dud. Unfortunately the TV was NOT servicer friendly because the cabinet was held together like how some remote controls are; where there's no screws holding things together just clamshell style tabs that require you to pry the case open carefully without breaking the case, which implies that they really didn't intend for the TV to be repaired...

Samsung used to make available a tool for removing those screwless backs. After awhile they went NLA. I stopped making service calls on those types of sets because to remove the backs involved "pulling it off". Customers were upset that the sound of those backs coming off sounded like "popping bubble wrap". Don't feel too bad because the majority of the problems those sets had were the result of a defective screen anyway.
