Anyone know what this set is?
Saw an ad for this today. Says it's from '49/'50, works and is in beauiful condition. Wants $199.00 for it, but would probably come down. Tried calling but no answer. Thank's for any help, Dan

I have a '50 rounded top 12" Philco that I think is a 50-T-1400. it has a different bezel treatment. The same Photofact (set 114 folder 9) dated 11/50 covers the 50-T1400 as well as 50-T1104, 50-T1401, 50-T1402 and 50-T1430... must be one of those.
jr Update : Found mine! This site says mine is a 1403 ! http://tvhistory.tv/1950-Philco-50T1403-12in.JPG Last edited by jr_tech; 02-24-2012 at 04:25 PM. Reason: add link to pix |

Philco for sure, I'm guessing it's a metal cabinet?
Is it a 12" or 16"? |

It is really amazing what a difference in bezel treatment, and a slight rounding of the front edges of the cabinet can make... mine looks homely as a board fence, compared to your 1401 beauty!

Thanks. It's the 2nd vintage TV I ever picked up
![]() $199 seems a little high. On the other hand, if you can test the CRT, good 12LP4s are going for over $100 lately. Also, the 1401 seems to be the least common of the 50T-140X family. Last edited by bandersen; 02-24-2012 at 04:54 PM. |

Philco or Westinghouse-rebranded Philco.

It is a 12 1/2" Philco 50-1400 series. It uses 22 tubes. It is one of the few Philcos that does not have a removable CRT window for easy cleaning. It is definitely one of the better 12" TVs around. It is a wood cabinet.
