Thomson upgrading
Hello! I am trying to get better user experience out of portable thomson 10 inch tv. Sound quality is really crappy and it goes in to 16:9 mode when connecting rgb from scart.
I took out the speaker and its 70mm x 40mm and 25 ohm. I dont know much about audio stuff but 25 ohms sound very high for me, i think they are usually 8? Is it possible to trick tv some way to stay in 4:3 mode? Something like remove or manipulate 5v/12v rgb switch voltage or other methods? |

For the SPKR common values are 4, 8, 16 & 32 ohms. That is
impedance NOT DC ohms. SO keep in mind it will be close but not exact. Sorry I cant help you with the format, that stuff drives me NUTS ! 73 Zeno ![]() LFOD ! |

Ok, so i lifted pin 8 from scart connector and its not going to 16:9 mode (and also need manually set to av channel like with composite). I couldnt find proper replacement speaker so im going to put original back and i was thinking maybe takeing wires from scart and adding aux jack so i can use external speakers. Not ideal but the original sound is just so horrible.
Edit: i started looking around and found a connector with logo that looks like a speaker . Does anybody know what this is for? ![]()

Not much European gear here (if I wasn't into videogames at one point I would have never heard of SCART) in the states but a few 60s German table radios I've seen use that exact external speaker jack...Must have been a long lived standard over there.

I think i have seen this same thing somewhere before but never given it a second thought.. I would like to know what type of speaker it can handle or does it work like aux jack (needs amplyfying)

Most European equipment having this type of connector are for speaker, already amplified. But is difficult to ascertain about this very model. Well, if is a preamp, the major issue of testing a speaker on this will be almost no sound
