Stromberg Carlson TC-125
I thought you guys might like to see some more pictures of this somewhat uncommon set. This is the set I posted the Craigslist link to over in the Curbside forum. http://videokarma.org/showthread.php?t=256644
Last Saturday I finally broke down and made the 3 hour journey to go fetch it. I could tell from the sellers photo's that the cabinet was in fair enough condition. What those photo's didn't fully reveal was the extent to which this set had suffered a mouse invasion at some point in the past. Well thankfully the critters along with their smell was long gone. At any rate I wasn't about to leave the set behind after making the 3 hour trip. The set has a GE branded 12LP4 CRT that tested well into the green after only a couple minutes at 6.3 volts. In my book that's a sign of a very strong CRT. I've started the slow and painful process of cleaning the mouse poo off the chassis. I'll post more pictures of how that's going at a later date. I'd be interested in the missing knobs, and the back, if by some miraculous chance...

It doesn't look too bad, I rebuilt a chassis like that from the Manhattan model that was a basket case, pee and rust all over but it came out fine.
Does it have the Zoom switch on the tuning shaft? if it does then that is probably the wrong knob on it now. What size is the missing speaker? I possibly have something that will fit. |

That's a cool set. You could turn it into a real looker.
Here's mine, a TS-10 with matching stand and 3 speed record changer. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Everything works, including the changer.

No Opera Glass zoom on this one, the center of the tuning shaft goes to a pot. I'm pretty sure that Bakelite knob is not original. I'm a little confused right now to as what all the control functions should be. I have Sams 95A-13, but it's one of those one page preliminary jobs, very hard to read. It doesn't even tell me which control functions are ganged. Eventually I can trace the wiring, for now I'm concentrating on getting the poo off this thing. The set needs a 12" pm speaker, looks like standard 11-5/8" across the bolt holes. Actually I have a 12" I can use, but it's not of the correct vintage. Lee, Your Stromberg set is a real beauty.

I have a similar set with the 16GP4 metal picture tube. It has a double D mask.
Mine has big problems, including that the hv cap in hv cage had blown up, and, the damper had a melt down. I rear my flyback may be toast, but, one day, I'll look into the set. I don't relish rebuilding it because you have to remove that picture tube to get half thw wiring. Bill Cahill

Bob,
Your TC-125 is the only one I found when I Googled the model. Do you know if your speaker is original to your set? |

Does anyone know if these various TC-125 models are covered in Riders? |

Yikes! Alot of dead weight!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mine is compltete, and, has a fairly nice case with decorative molding on top. No doors, though. Has speaker grill cut out like that of their more deluxe 24" models. Mine has suffered alot with a blown electrolytic, and, burned resistors. The owner said he plugged it in, and, it made a loud audio hum. Hope I can fix it. Bill Cahill

I posted photos of the progress of the construction on my web site yesterday. (link below) The story is listed in the Web site menu as "Bob's Bunker" It's worth taking a look at. It has been 12 months in the planning and construction stages and now construction has been halted until spring due to winter weather.
