The flaking problem seems weird. I have used Aerodag G to coat a number of CRTs and haven't had a problem with it sticking on or staying on. I cleaned the CRT with isopropyl alcohol beforehand.

It does seem to indicate that the coating may have been too "dry" when it hit the jug. Glad you got it sorted out. I know that others had been successful with the stuff.
