price for strong 21cyp22

I'm selling off one of my ctc9's and the guy bidding also needs a crt for another early 60's unit. What to you think a fair price for it would be? I told him those crt's are scarce.

"Fair is in the eye of the beholder". Imagine how your situation would be if you had a few okay/good 21AXP's around! We've seen crazy prices for later roundie tubes and "fair" can be such a subjective word.

How about more along the lines of what you are comfortable with? We know there is no set value for things like this and yeah, todays CYP's are tomorrows FB/FJP's, and time can make the difference too as with anything.

Maybe something can be in trade instead....

I'd guess you'd have no trouble getting $300 for it if it's strong on all guns and no rejuvenation done.
Whether or not some people will think that's "fair" is entirely subjective.

Eric

I would be much easier to help this guy out if I could go out and find another to replace it, but as we all know parts for these sets are becoming harder and harder to find. The guy claims to have a museum in Palm Springs with classic cars and classic electronics. Since I've never been to Palm Springs maybe he could fly me out there I'll install the crt and set everything up for him. haha

Some people would say, fair can be decided by the marketplace.
ebay sets a price by what several buyers are willing to bid it up to....
No arm twisting, you don't know who is selling, or who is buying (ideally).
As long as an honest presentation is made, a current fair price can be had....

I think that would be plenty fair as long as the hotel and meals were thrown in!

agree with putting it on ebay, that will determine the price. The key issue is can you pack it to survive shipping? if so you get a much larger market looking at it. Of course this puts a LOT of pressure on the seller to pack it right, it can be done but its not easy and its not cheap.

Agree with the issue of good cut off, good life test (operate it at 5v), good emissions good balance and NO rejuv having been done will bring top dollar. Face it with out a good CRT you have a nice huge paper weight.

I suspect the prices will come and go. There is a small group chasing after this old stuff. As we croak off the market will dry up and who knows what they will bring. Of course if new (younger) collectors come on board perhaps these old sets will continue to have a following. Some how I don't see that, but I hope I am wrong.

Very few people are interested.. There will be the few that will pay top dollar for these, once they run out of space or satisfied with the amount of back ups they have.. I would imagine the price will come down.. I bet of someone found 100 NOS roundie tubes I bet they wouldn't be able to get rid of all them at that price or even half.. Ebay dictates the market NOW and WHO at the time is willing to pay WHAT amount..

Fly me to Palm Springs

I told the guy who bought my ctc9 and a extra 21cyp22 if he couldn't find someone to install the crt and set up the ctc9 I'd be glad to do it but he would have to fly me out there. Shipping company picking up to items today.
