I think people understand - they have been trying to explain that it is VERY difficult to change frame rate from 24 to 25 without introducing motion artifacts that you won't like, and will cause you to say "why don't they do it right?"

That said, it is possible to do a good job with very expensive motion-compensated conversion; I wonder if most current movie releases aren't done with motion compensated conversion - but many classic film-based TV shows were not.
