Capacitor

Was wondering if a .022 is the same as 2200 for a capacitor And 680 and 6800 both should show 2200 nf and 680 nf

It's a factor of 1000 or 1/1000 at each step.

.022 uF (microfarad) = 22 nF (nanofarad) = 22000 pf (picofard)
uF common marking = nF not so common marking = pf seldom (or never) used marking

680pf = .680 nF = .000680 uF
pF common marking = nF never used marking = uF never used marking

So 6800 is not 680

Just find a chart from here that you are comfortable with using: https://www.google.com/search?q=capacitor+value+chart

.

They also have capacitor value calculators online that you can plug in values to see or convert uf to pf to nf

It all depends on what, and where the 680 number you are refering to is located. Are you dealing with a ceramic / mica cap or a wax paper film cap, or schematic listings?

If it says 680 on the schematic for an old 50's 60's era TV or an old stock capacitor then it's 680 mmf which is the same as picofarad.

If it's a new recently made ceramic cap and it says 680 then it's 68pf and 680pf is part #681

It seems that Nanofarad is something that it used more recently and as far as I'm concerned we could all do without. And to make matters worse I bought a new multimeter and it uses megafarad and displays it as (MF)
