SILVERTONE 110.702.10 Cannot adjust the width.
Hello, I have recently rebuilt this B&W 1952 15-inch Sears set. I have a beautiful, stable picture now after a full recap and replacement of several components. I am unable to get the width control to adjust any width. Adjusting it does not change the screen. I have not tried adjusting the yoke, yet, but wanted to see if anyone has an idea as to what is happening.

.
Did you run the tv before replacing all the caps? & Did it have this problem before? If not, you should review your work & be sure all parts are correct, & in the right spots. Do you have a Sams, or Schematic from someone else? Begin by checking voltages at power supply, & then B+ Boost & the driver voltage to the Horiz. output tube G1 should be a -50V or so, I don't have a schematic for this tv, so you have to find the right V. Is the width 1" in from the sides, 2" ?? Is it distorted in any way....? Of course the width coil can be bad, so you have to check it as well, again If it's a coil, I don't know.... Messing with the yoke now will only add to what you have to fix once you find the actual problem you have right now... .

Something else to keep in mind is that if it is a width coil in parallel with a section of the flyback, it's will not have a very big effect on width. Also, most of the width change might be at one extreme of the coil.

The width coil is parallel to the flyback. I will check the coil itself. I confirmed that the driver voltage for the HO tube was -50. It is about 2 inches on each side. The video is not distorted. Just "too wide." I will adjust it at both extremes to see if there is a change.
