Vactron Picture Tube Manufacturer. 15GP22 CRT ???

Spotted this one eBay today.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=180034415468

Does anyone know anything about Vactron? Did they make early color picture tubes? Might be a good source of info... Would they have been licensed to make the 15GP22?

Tom

That would be a great film to show at the convention. I would have bid if I'd seen it. I hope somebody here got it.
Sounds like that liquid pouring could be of the safety glass sealer(PVA)?

As for the 15GP22: I have wondered if there would have been a production manual made by the RCA engineers to give to the CRT production facilities.
Wouldn't there have been a few copies with all the secrets to make a 15GP22 from scratch? Could that info be obtained somehow? Being able to have a supply of CRT's for the CT100's would be a great thing that could lead to more interest in the newer sets as well.

The only thing I have seen is a list of the equipment for producing the tubes that presumes that the factory purchases the bulbs and other parts. Plus, the equipment is described, but not the settings or times involved, i.e. the process details.

It's unlikely that the margin was worse for any other tricolor CRT. Funding a 15GP22 production manual was probably out of the question.

I was bidding on it, but somebody else wanted it more. I guess I should have bid more, since it would be a nice thing to have.
