Scored myself a RCA TK-760 camera!!! :D

G'day all.

I have just recently scored myself a RCA TK-760 plumbicon tube colour camera last week, this is the 2nd broadcast grade camera to enter my collection!!! This camera was kindly given to me by a film camera collector as his interest was more in film than TV.

The camera is in excellent shape and since it didn't need a CCU to run it, I directly connected the video lead from the video out of the camera to the AV in of my TV and fired it up and success, the camera work!!! It's not working wonderfully though as there's some problems such as a couple of loose connections and the tubes are way off alignment but it's making pictures that's the main thing!

The main problem with this camera is the loose connections. One was the lead coming from the blue tube (I assume target lead) has a loose fitting plug which is not securing properly in the socket on the tube drive board (I assume that's what the board does), this resulted in only the red and green tube operating and so I got a composite red green picture. I push the blue tube lead in and that fixed the problem although it's still loosely fitted. The other problem which is more elusive is the luminance will invert itself which makes the picture look psychedelic which is great as an effect but undesirable for normal use, I tap the front top of the enclosure above the tube bay and it temporarily fixes the problem but the problem comes back, my guess is there might be a bad earth somewhere in that area.

While the camera is running good I am getting a usable picture which in some shots looks half decent but in other shots looks way out of alignment so the tubes need a lot of adjustment. Anyways it's an excellent addition to my collection, I hope to get it running really good sometime soon once I get a TK-760 or TK-76 service manual.
