If there is a dent in the wheel perhaps you can chuck it into an electric drill and sand it down to a smaller diameter. The diameter isn't critical.

I have a turntable I salvaged from a not-so-old stereo combo, I think Magnavox. It uses what looks like a stereo ceramic cartridge that is probably good. The motor is 12 V and the whole thing is built to the lowest standards, although it's belt drive. I wonder what to do with it. Pic available.
