RCA T-100 info
Wow, no telling what you find if you look around. I didnt notice that AK split off into a video area.
I didnt notice another area like the audio side has for this type question but I have a question about an old BW tv I just saw for sale/free. Its an old RCA T-100, looks complete except the cloth is a bit freyed in one corner. Im not a TV guy so much but I know there are some of you guys that breathe CRT's and really like the old stuff So I thougt if someone was interested I could direct you there. No cost. In Seattle, Wa. PM me. Mike//

I got directions and will go there tomorrow morning. I need a T-100 like a hole in the head -- looks like the same TV as my 630TS in another cabinet. There's also supposed to be a Motorola combo (snore). Anyway, it may be fun to poke around. Sounds like these people owned a little bit of everything. I can earn some Husband Bonus Points by bringing along my sale-crazed wife.

I haven't seen the one at the sale, but here's what the tvhistory.tv website shows for a T-100.

Not bad, but it'd be a lot nicer is there was a 'c' in front of that 'T'

Went to the sale. The T-100 sits on a washing machine in the basement. Torn cloth, missing back, remainder not awful. Similar to 630TS, but not identical as I saw when looking at the chassis. Motorola combo in somewhat unusual cabinet with legs. Buried under packing materials, a plain Muntz b/w console with big honking CRT.
No great bargains or exciting treasures. They want $160 for the T-100, $150 or so for the Motorola, $100+ for the Muntz. They'll discount prices after 1:00 PM tomorrow. Not being in a buying mood, I gave them $2 for a pair of 1970s Archer rabbit ears and picked a Sony portable 5-307UW TV off a trashpile by the garage (just felt too sorry for it!). The house had junk piled everywhere. The workers (and yesterday's shoppers) had torn through everything thoroughly. Maybe I'll go back around 3 PM tomorrow, but I suspect the T-100 still won't be cheap enough to tempt me. Phil |

Thanks for the photos. I'm surprised that they let people in the house like that. There was an estate sale here this morning. They took everything out of the house before the sale because they didn't think the house would be safe. Unfortunately no old tvs.
I'd have gone for the Sunbeam mixer in the first photo. John |

jeyurkon, I have an extra mixmaster out in the shed. (got a whole collection) I could set you right up...
Man, that house is a disaster! But actually it looks a lot like the last estate sale I went to. Hard to sell much that way. I think even if they cut prices in half I'd have to think hard before shelling out the money. The T-100 is pretty attractive to me but sounds like that one will need plenty of work; who knows about the crt.

Meanwhile, my free Sony from the garbage pile doesn't look too bad. Here's Obama on Face the Nation. They threw it out because it needs new caps in the vertical & horizontal. I just let the rain dry out overnight, didn't even brush off the pine needles.
To me, this is more fun than buying a set that someone else has already restored ![]() Phil |

Plus, a model 9T246 shares that same cabinet style but with the KCS28(C) chassis. The only real way to tell of course is the label on the rear of the chassis.

'Fraid I'll have to keep my new $40 TV, torn cloth and all.
I made a deal with my better self. Dude, you can buy it if you promise to set it aside until you finish recapping that CTC-11. Coupla missing tubes, coupla replacement caps underneath, nothing too scary. A mouse peed by the power xfmr but he was not a repeat offender. No, I will not just find a couple of replacement tubes and my variac . . . I will not, not, not! I talked to the house owner, who was a child when the family bought the place in 1950. This TV dates from then. The back was with a pile of papers in the basement. Also the program from this guy's high school commencement. I guess he has kind of lost interest in the material world. Despite the mess inside, it's a cool house in a desirable Seattle neighborhood near waterfront. Two blocks away is a little place for sale at $1 million; that lot has about the same square footage as my house. Chassis KCS38. Anyone willing to scan a schematic? I promised not to work on it, but reading doesn't count ![]() Phil Nelson |
